Nicholas, born 2008
May 27th, 2008 our second child, Nicholas, was born. We found out on my 20th week ultrasound that something was wrong with his heart. That was the day that our lives were changed forever.
Over the next few months until my due date, I felt many emotions. I wasn't sure what to expect. I cried and had visions of our future with a sick child, having constant health issues to deal with.
But that all changed when I gave birth. I took one look at him and felt that everything was going to be okay. They took him from me right away and performed a balloon arterial septostomy. Three days later, he underwent the arterial switch operation and 7 days later, he was discharged. We couldn't believe how quickly he recovered. I am so thankful to the Doctors and Nurses of Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital of Columbia Presbyterian in New York.
I thank GOD for blessing my family with a happy baby boy! He brings so much joy into our lives!
